Cape Town Stadium is a newly built stadium for World Cup 2010. It is also known as Green Point Stadium, because the old stadium (which was replaced) had that name. Total cost was estimated at $600 millions (equivalent of 4,4 billion ZAR).
It was opened at 14 December 2009 and on 23 January 2010 Santos and Ajax Cape Town played the inaugural game. The stadium is located in Green Point, between Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean, close to the Cape Town city centre.
Total capacity during World Cup 2010 will be 69000 seats.
