Ellis Park Stadium is located in Johannesburg, South Africa and it will host seven games from World Cup 2010. The stadium is also know as Coca-Cola Park due to a Coca-Cola Company sponsorship. They pay 58.000.000$ for naming rights.
Ellis Park Stadium was opened in 1928. Now it is home for Orlando Pirates, Lions and Golden Lions.
In recent past, this stadium hosted two important finals: first was in 1995 when South Africa organized
Rugby World Cup. South Africa and New Zeeland played the final which was won by harbingers. 62000 spectators watched that game. Second important final which was played here was last year, in 2009 Fifa Confederation Cup. Brazil defeat SUA (3-2).
It suffered some improvements two years ago, and 5000 seats were added. Now it can handle 65000 people.
Even if Ellis Park hosted important matches in past competitions from South Africa, this time it doesn’t play an important role. The organisers plans only matches from Groups Stage, one from Round of 16 and one quarter-final. See it all below:
